Kid snapshot, 2 and 6

K:

Drew an awesome comic book.

Is getting into Encyclopedia Brown (but can't solve any of the mysteries yet).

Has Legos covering every inch of his room.

Likes kindergarten, but complains about extended day.

Is starting to eat more things, including on occasion pasta sauce.

Is pretty hilarious sometimes, and not just about butts.

Is a bit of a smart alec. Luckily, so far it seems to amuse the adults he talks to rather than annoying them.

Charms the neighbors by asking about their day.

Sings under his breath at bedtime.
X:

Shouts "DOGGIE!" every time he spies one a block away, and continues shouting until the owner of the doggie comes over.

Sleeps with Elmo and recently started demanding the Little Duck too.

Still asks for his binky, two months later.

Loves big trucks of all kinds, especially garbage trucks.

Is interested in sports, anything resembling a guitar ("strum strum!") and play food and kitchens. Also enjoys actual cooking and baking, and if I'm not paying attention will grab the spice jars, dump them into a bowl, and stir up his spice mix.

Runs out onto the basketball court and grabs the ball when we pick up K from the gym. (Meanwhile, K is never playing basketball, he's always racing up and down the court.)

Still asks to see the snowman every day, even though it melted a week ago.

Has become picky about what he wears, and typically only consents to wearing shirts with trucks on them. (I did get him to wear a plaid flannel by telling him it was a "Grandpa shirt.")

Sings along when I sing his bedtime song, and/or points out my nose, mouth, eyes, and ears.

Drew on the wall with a highlighter.

When he sees a picture of food, he pretends to grab some and eat it.

Prefers mouth kisses. Sometimes he forgets to close his mouth and then I get covered in baby drool. K prefers cheek kisses and I approve.

Refuses to sit in his booster seat at mealtimes. Insists on climbing into his carseat by himself.

If you ask him what he's doing, he glares at you and says, "Nuffin."

Favorite phrase: "X DO IT!"
